Best of K-Beauty: Jolse Haul

Yep, that's right guys, it's about time for another installment of my 'Best of K-Beauty' series, in which I test out and discover new Korean cosmetics from a variety of different sources in order to give you NOTHING but the best (I do try!).

Today's focus is on the absolutely wonderful Jolse.com who, very kindly, offered me the chance to purchase some products of my choice using gifted store credit. I mean, how could I turn that down? Admittedly, I was incredibly spoilt for choice given the sheer variety on Jolse. Let's just say it took me HOURS to make a decision on what I was taking to checkout and what I was leaving behind for another time (I'd just like to take this opportunity to apologise to any neglected products; I can't have all of you but I wish I could...). However, after what seemed like an age, I managed to select some fabulous goodies that I can't wait to share with you! So, without further ado, let's get deep into some K-Beauty bits!

Etude House play 101 stick primer (7g) - $14.48
As you guys know, primer is such a vital part of any makeup routine - it really preps the skin in order to allow for the smoothest and most flawless application possible. Therefore, I normally go for rather bougie primers, just to be sure that my base will end up looking BOMB. However, I don't regret going out on a limb with this one at all, as it may be a cheaper option, but it definitely does the job. On application, it's transparent and feels, to me, as if it's slightly silicone-esque (that's what I'm going with after searching the adjectival form of silicone for at least 15 minutes) much like it's more expensive counterparts. Although slightly stiff and difficult to manoeuvre across the face, once it's on, it's very effective for filling large pores - I'd recommend it to those of you wishing to blur out all of that jazz and SLAY.

Missha Pop Tastic Jelly tint in Maple Latte (5g) - $8.48
The intrigue with this product was originally introduced from the minute I saw the word 'jelly' associated with a LIP PRODUCT. Like most Brits, I enjoy a classic bowl of jelly and custard from time to time but the concept of a jelly-like tint sounded absurd until I tried it out for myself. As well as being incredibly refreshing and hydrating on the lips, the unique texture enables it to glide on seamlessly which, obviously, is a massive positive. In terms of colour, this particular shade definitely conforms to the description of 'my lips but better' - it's a stunning mauve/pink shade that enhances my preexisting lip hue, so I can wear it on an everyday basis with almost ANY look. You will 100% need to reapply throughout the day (this isn't a matte product) however, the tint remains rather stunning for a matter of about 6 hours, so if you like that type of lip 'stain', then this is a total YES.

Innisfree Vivid Cotton Ink in Burgundy Tulip (4g) - $10.48
Here we have the absolute standout product of the bunch. There isn't really much to say about this stunning matte wonder and, ladies and gentleman, that is due to the fact that I can't really fault it. If I even begin to explain the amount of compliments I receive when wearing the Vivid Cotton Ink, we'd be here for a long ass time - it's simply perfect. As well as being one of the most long-wearing matte lipsticks I've ever tried (it's very stubborn, but comes off at night with an oil based cleanser or your bog standard Micellar water), the deep red colour is simply stunning against darker skintones and the cream formula makes application really easy. I love it an awful lot and can't wait to experiment with some more shades.

The face shop rice water bright foaming cleanser (300ml) - $13.48
Firstly, who knew that you could buy MASSIVE 300ml tubes of cleanser? I was genuinely surprised at how large this cleanser was when it arrived, but so excited to try it at the same time. Being a foaming cleanser, you'd expect it to be able to produce a pretty decent lather and, much to my pleasure, it did a fabulous job. I love the usage of rice water in the cleanser (natural ingredients for the win), you get SO much product for your money and it actually works, as I've been starting to notice a brighter glow to my skin, notably in the areas with slight scarring from previous spots. Conclusion? Worth the purchase, 100%.

Elizavecca Milky Piggy Carbonated bubble clay mask (100ml) - $11.74
Admittedly, I actually chose this product having already tried it once before - the minute it went viral online, I was on it like a car bonnet and LOVED it. Not only is it hilarious to witness yourself transforming into a rather repulsive, fat pig due to the carbonated bubbles (I know it sounds depressing but it's actually rather humorous), it's also very effective at clearing up pesky blemishes if used on a regular basis. One thing to bear in mind: the spatula provided, although adorable, is USELESS for even application, so you're better off using your own flat brush in order to achieve maximum results.

A little closeup of those magical carbonated pockets of goodness!

Elizavecca 24k gold snail cleansing foam (180ml) - $15.22
Whilst we're discussing the weird and wacky Korean brand that is Elizavecca, this rather bougie cleansing foam contains ingredients that caught my eye instantly and for obvious reasons. Being a packaging whore, the gold bar presented to me when I opened my box was the first thing I was drawn to - the box is STUNNING. However, unfortunately, the aesthetic element of this product can't hide the fact that it's rather underwhelming; it hasn't particularly improved or helped my skin in anyway, apart from making me feel like a princess upon each and every use. In addition, despite making my skin feel squeaky clean, it's quite a drying product - I don't really recommend it to those of you with already dry skin, like myself. Therefore, I wouldn't, personally, repurchase. (Unless it was for the box, of course...)

Cosrx low ph good morning gel cleanser (150ml) - $11.00
Transitioning from the not-so-great to the outstanding, here we have a low pH morning gel cleanser and, honestly, it's been rocking my world ever since it arrived. This type of product was exactly what my skin has been craving first thing in the morning - it's gentle (yet effective at the same time), smells deliciously citrusy and couldn't be more refreshing. It's the perfect product to help slowly ease the skin into that routine first thing in the morning; the face needs time to wake up, like us, and this cleanser is ideal for doing precisely that.

Skinfood bitter green clay to foam (170g) - $11.48
And last, but not least, is a bittersweet ending as this green clay to foam product, although cleverly multi-usage friendly, isn't exactly the full package when it comes to skincare products. Although I love the concept of a mask this heavy doubling up as a cleanser, I'm not 100% if it works, as I always leave the bathroom with clay in all sorts of crevices of the face. In addition, I find this product to be rather aggressive in nature - it has a habit of irritating my skin. However, it does do it's job in terms of minimizing blemishes - I'd only really recommend it to those of you with skin that can survive nuclear wars and strong products.

Wow. Eight products later and I'm EXHAUSTED. In conclusion, I'm very happy with my picks from Jolse; although some were slightly disappointing, I found a few gems that will for sure remain a part of my skincare routine for years to come. For all of you guys out there hesitating as to whether to try out some Korean products or not, I absolutely urge you to give it a go, and Jolse is an amazing place to start; they also offer free shipping and an unreal amount of  samples with each order. Generosity goals shook.

  5. Everything here sounds so good! Especially the two lip products, as the colours are really pretty. The first one sounds interesting, as you wouldn't expect a jelly formula and you have totally reminded me to have a bowl of jelly too haha, haven't had it in ages! I really need to start trying Korean products, as they sound really good! Great post Marina!xx
