HOT: Labelle Makeup's Colour Splurge Eyeshadow Palette

Hey guys, today I'm back, and fairly punctually, with a brand, spanking new review of a special something that popped into my post box not so long ago, accompanied by a variety of confectionary and sweet treats in keeping with the theme (which were promptly devoured by myself and my entourage within the hours that followed). And that theme is colour.

Now, anyone who reads my blog will instantly recognise the brand Labelle Makeup, as this will be the fourth time I've been kindly gifted and given the chance to feature their newly released goodies and, indeed, the fourth time I've been taken aback at what's arrived for me. However, this time was slightly different as, admittedly, I am an unabashed fan of their Instagram feed (follow them here, you'll thank me later) and had been stalking this palette prior to it's release but was genuinely convinced that the sheer punch behind the shadows that I was seeing was being intensified by my bright LED screen. Fortunately, I found out upon opening the package and taking one look at Colour Splurge in person that I couldn't have been more wrong, so, CUE THE REVIEW!

The first thing I noticed here was that the packaging has been carefully devised in order to solely showcase the shocking shades in all of their glory - it's entirely matte black, the only detailing being the baby pink title (written in a rather enchanting font) and brand logo. And, to be honest, aesthetically speaking, I couldn't agree with that choice more, as it's a very well-suited box to match the spectrum contained within.

Speaking of said spectrum, the actual inside of the palette itself is a true feast for the eyes, so much so that one may as well have just packed the colours of the rainbow in there and called it a day because that's essentially what we've got here: nine pans of matte perfection. Now, I know this much vivacity may intimidate some (especially those of you who live off of neutrals and warm tones like myself), however, I was reasonably ready to step out of my comfort zone and explore something new - for me, the fear of ending up in a constant rut and sporting the same makeup look everyday DEFINITELY overrides the fear of a bit of colour.  So, compose yourselves (deep breaths in and out) and prepare for today's swatches, done in my regular fashion, from left to right of each row using zero eyeshadow primer and a clean finger:

Barbie: A true barbie pink

Marmalade: A delicate sunset orange

Emerald: A bright forest green

Magenta: A true magenta

Sunshine: A bumblebee yellow

Teal: A true teal

Blackout: A rich charcoal black

Tomato: A candy apple red

Plum: A true plum

As you guys can see, when applied to skin, these colours stay completely true to their appearance in the pan and are, without a shadow of a doubt, winning on the pigmentation front; there's not one shade here that I'd go anywhere near as far as to label faint or lackluster. However, as with every palette, I have my preferences and, in this case, the shades I believe deliver the most payoff with each swipe are Barbie, Emerald and Teal - all I can say is OH MY.

Formula wise, I expected nothing less than what I became accustomed to when I began using the So Lush palette from Labelle (if you haven't yet read that, make it your next mission by clicking here) which was a buttery, blendable texture and, of course, that expectation was met threefold (side note: a lot of assumptions are made regarding intense tones such as these and fallout, however, there's honestly no more than you get with your average brown shade so that is purely a myth!). Bar Sunshine, which I have to work a little harder with as brighter yellows don't show up as easily on darker skintones (this is nothing to do with the formula at all), I really don't have to pack on these shades in order to make them pop on the eye; you can achieve a spectacular result with your look in record time AND get your money's worth as, even if you use this palette 7 seven days a week, you still won't hit pan very quickly. And, finally, given the fact that these are such intense hues, a twelve hour day of wear won't affect the shadows in the slightest, i.e, you'll never find yourself in the unfortunate situation of leaving the house with every shade on your eyelid and returning with just one (not a good look, guys, not a good look...).

Showing off the UNREAL pigmentation of my favourites Barbie, Emerald and Teal
Overall, using this palette, so far, has not only been a pleasure but an experience that has, in fact, inspired me to want to experiment with a more diverse spectrum in the future - thanks to Labelle Makeup, you might just be seeing a lot more playful and interesting features on the blog from now on. Aside from that particular aspect though, Labelle have created yet another high quality and desirable product that, as with their others, takes pride of place within my makeup collection and could easily do the same within yours - at just £15, it's accessible to EVERYONE. So, if you're looking to splurge and buy yourself something a little colourful, personally, I reckon you're going to love Colour Splurge just as much as I do!

Thank you so much for reading today's post - I really hope you guys enjoyed hearing about Labelle and their newest baby!

Do you/would you experiment with colour within your makeup routine? If so, is Colour Splurge something you'd be interested in trying out?

  1. Oh ma lawd the shades are STUNNING.
'Teal' and 'Sunshine' look like they'd be my favourite shades in the palette. They're beautiful colours, and as you said the pigmentation is gorgeous!

    1. So great to see you hear Hannah, I'm so glad you're loving this palette! Teal, well it goes without saying, is a stunning colour in general (I'd wear teal all over my face and paint my walls in teal) and Sunshine just really brightens up the palette and makes you smile. And, yes, of course - pigmentation is on 100000! x

    1. Hey there Ellie, thanks for reading today! GIRL, I still use that contour kit to this day - I've almost ran out of my favourite shade for my jawline (a bit darker than the others so I can really look like a monument) but it's still serving me well! Glad you're loving the look of these neon numbers here, I totally recommend picking the palette up if you're into the colours. xx

  12. I rarely wear such bright colors. I mostly go for natural and neutral look. However I love colored eyeliners that will just add something to the eyes. The pigmentation of the palette is great and the swatches are just lovely. :-)

    1. Hey there darl! Honestly, same - I'm very prone to picking up the nearest warm toned brown for the crease and completely forgetting about that pop of colour! But this palette's been keeping me in check lately, in the same way your coloured eyeliners do - I have used teal to create a wing though and the result is beautiful! Thank you so much, I'm glad you enjoyed! x
