Hate Half Term? 5 Ideas To Keep You Sane

There's one question that every parent thinks about as the half term approaches: "What am I going to do to keep the kids entertained for the next week?!." Children are often bored, which may result in them acting out, squabbling, or even getting themselves into situations that they shouldn't be in. Fortunately, no matter where you live, you can come up with activities for your children that will keep them from fighting and, most importantly, from causing you any unnecessary stress. These ideas for fun activities with your kids during half term will keep you from missing out on your wine!

Make something!

Every child enjoys getting messy and making something with a craft set. So go to your local homeware store and get them some artsy bits and pieces, then let them wild with their imagination! The best part is that everyone can join in on the fun and make something to put on the fridge after it's dry. Just remember to lay down some newspaper first to prevent making a huge mess that you'll have to clean up afterwards!

Do some baking

Baking is a great way to get the kids together to cook something delicious to enjoy later on. It doesn’t matter whether you and your children prefer sweet or savoury goodies, as there are so many things you can bake together! If you love nothing more than a delicious cake, consider looking up cake recipes online to bake together. However if savoury is more of your thing, why not bake your own brioche burger buns to enjoy at dinner time?

Get them outside

Children learn about nature and burn off some of their excess energy when they go outside to play, so they'll be ready to go to sleep at the end of the day! While a lengthy stroll with a frisbee and a football would suffice, there are several outdoor facilities around the country where you may take your children to play on a playground.

Make it a movie day.

One of the most enjoyable ways to spend the day is in front of the television in your jammies with a variety of foods with your children. Make a day of it by browsing the DVD selection at your local supermarket for family-friendly titles. Kids don't need to be told more than once that they can watch TV. Let them pick a movie or TV show, and then put up a post-film quiz game to keep them on their toes after the show! Any justification for a lazy day, right?!

Dust off the push bikes

Cleaning off the bicycles and going for a long family bike ride is a great way to spend time with your family and prevent any whining or complaining. Before continuing on your journey, why not bring food for a picnic and enjoy a rest stop in a scenic location?

This half-term, try these activities with your kids to prevent any tension or fights. You’ll find that half term isn’t such a chore!
