Is it TOO good to be true??! - Morphe Brand Review + swatches!

Morphe, Morphe, Morphe... Where do I start? To me, it seemed like a revelation: top quality makeup and brushes (comparable to those of high-end brands) for incredibly reasonable prices. I mean, what the HELL could go wrong? And, of course, with the aid of huge beauty influencers of the Youtube platform, such as NikkieTutorials, PatrickStarrr and Jaclyn Hill (plus a few others), this brand has completely taken over and blown up.

So, as usual, my inquisitive ass wants to get with the cool kids and give Morphe a shot: A, because I was definitely in need of some fresh, new makeup to reach for every morning and B, well, it wasn't exactly going to cost me an arm and a leg, right?

Of course, once the decision was made, I had to obtain these goodies: I placed my order through Beauty Bay (the shipping prices on the Morphe website to where I live are RIDICULOUS, so I was forced to look elsewhere) and it arrived within 10 working days, as promised.

Overall, I ordered 3 products, 2 of which were palettes and one was a set of 18 brushes, which came to a grand total of 80.50€, which really isn't too expensive at all compared to the regular cost of modern makeup.

So to start with, let's get into one of the most hyped products of last year: The Morphe 35 colour palette. I, much to my despair, could not get my hands on the infamous 35O nature glow palette, that's been heavily circulating around the internet, due to the fact that it's ALWAYS sold out. And I mean EVERYWHERE (But I don't blame anyone; have you seen those shades? If not, click here now. You're welcome.)

Therefore, I had to settle for the 35T Taupe palette, which is stunning all the same. The palette includes 35 pans of assorted shades, all following a rather neutral taupe theme.

The colours range from the dusty roses to the various shades of pale purple to the golden and bronzed shimmers to those much needed rich brown transitions shades and so on and so forth! The palette pretty much has every neutral shade you'll ever need and even contains a gorgeous, reflective duochrome colour in there! There is a large mixture of shimmers and mattes, both of which are really buttery.

EVERY shade swatched!

I purchased this palette for 24.50€ and with its well protected, sleek black casing, it's very likely that none of your shadows will ever shatter and die a horrible death (If you've ever had to experience a death in your makeup family, you'll know precisely how that feels)

Overall, this palette is very enjoyable, costs very little and produces high amounts of pigment when applied. The only downsides to this palette are that some of the shadows are difficult to work with and blend out properly (but if you take your time with them, you'll get there) and the pans appear to be quite thin. And by that, I mean WAFER thin, so you may not get as much use out of each shadow as you would have liked. However, that being said, for the price you pay, this palette, for me, is a winner.

On to the next one! Here we have the second palette from my mini Morphe haul: the 12NB Natural Beauty palette (16.20€), containing, as the number suggests, twelve natural shades that can be used for everyday wearable makeup but can be doubled up to create more vibrant, evening appropriate looks.

As an eyeshadow junkie, when I see a palette, I'm instantly attracted to it, simply because it's palette. Hence, when I first saw this palette online, all I saw was its stunning warm colour spectrum and I never stopped to reflect on the fact that a majority of the shades are quite generic. By that, I mean that the average girl or guy with a makeup fetish probably already owns a fair few if not the entirety of the shades elsewhere, whether that be within other palettes or lose shadow pans. Besides the beautiful burgundy colour, Morphe missed the mark here and created a palette that isn't particularly special or memorable; it's just your average warm palette.

Therefore, if you're a beginner and want a basic, everyday wearable neutral to warm toned palette that you can stick into your bag, I do recommend this one. However, for me, Morphe didn't bring enough to the party with this palette and ought to have included at least some slightly more unique shades. Better palettes exist, people.

Finally, the last item that I purchased was the sable brush set, which I was incredibly excited about; I was seriously lacking in the brushes department. I purchased this set for 39.80€ and it contains 18 brushes, all targeting different parts of the face and eyes; it provides you with all that you need to successfully apply a full face of makeup.

The original packaging is a flexible, leather-like roll up case with slots for each brush, however, I removed that and placed them into a plain, white flower pot because I found that to be less flimsy and more convenient.

These brushes are synthetic and honestly differ in softness; some of the brushes are incredibly fluffy and feel amazing on the skin, whereas a few others seem to have a stiffer feel to the skin. That doesn't necessarily mean to say that the brushes are disagreeable but, at the same time, I'd definitely prefer the textures to be consistent throughout the collection. These brushes shed very little but I've noticed that a few of the hairs do go slightly wavy after a while, but it doesn't pose a problem for me.

Despite this, I've been getting plenty of use out of these brushes and am actually quite enjoying how beautifully they apply powders and shadows. If I were to pick the three brushes that I'm most impressed by out of the bunch, I'd have to chose the black angled contour brush, the black crease blending brush and the large powder brush; these all do an amazing job for me.

Overall, this set of brushes is rather nice, the quality is wonderful despite the different textures and each brush does what's expected of it. So, yes, I would recommend purchasing this brush set.

And, here, we've come to the end of today's blog post! Thank you so much for taking the time to read about my opinions on Morphe as a brand and my product recommendations. Yes, there were a few negative aspects about each product but the low prices are what initially drew me in and no one can deny that they offer some amazing deals.

    1. Yeah, I think Morphe, as a whole, is definitely worth ranting about; the price and the quality are both incredibly desirable, which is what I think makes them so special. I hope you manage to get your hands on the nature glow palette, I've been trying for a while now but it seems to be sold out everywhere. Have you tried looking for it on https://www.cultbeauty.co.uk/
They might have it in stock, if not, I know that they restock very quickly and have free worldwide shipping after spending £50! Thanks for reading girl,
