EXCLUSIVE REVIEW ALERT: Labelle Makeup's "So Cheek" Highlighter and Blush Palette

Hi there babes, I know it's been a while so I'd firstly like to apologise for my leave of absence (exam period has been absolutely CRAZY) - I honestly can't forgive myself for depriving you guys of your weekly makeup and skincare fix for so long! However, you'll be happy to hear that I'm back now and I won't be going ANYWHERE, so sit down and get comfy because we're coming back with a bang. And, by that, I mean some new, unreleased makeup (that's right - you'll see it here first!) from one of my favourite brands, as you may well know by now if you've read my haul and recent palette unboxing post from them, Labelle Makeup.

Labelle Makeup have been so incredibly consistent with the quality of cosmetics that I, personally, have tried and tested, so when a beautiful PR package containing their newest creation arrived through my door, I was thoroughly excited before even setting eyes the product.

Packaging wise, again, Labelle have knocked it out of the park and fully illustrated the contents of the palette all over the box with the inclusion of several patches in glittering gold and varying shades of pink - the packaging is very much coherent with the palette, which is, aesthetically, a major positive and prevents colour clashes between the actual shades and the box. As well as having a stunning and original look, this palette also feels lightweight yet sturdy in the hand (meaning that you can indeed bring it with you on trips/holidays without fear of being greeted by a mound of shattered powders upon reopening the palette - anybody's worst nightmare) and also passes the all important "magnetic closure test" with flying colours.

Upon opening up the palette, I genuinely felt a sense of real pride in the brand as, being a mixed raced girl, I come across products that I know weren't made with myself and other melanin sisters in mind ALL THE TIME, however, here, Labelle Makeup have definitely put all brands making excuses about their shade ranges (and that's a lot of them) to shame. Within the palette, from right to left on my arm, you're getting:

  • Starlight (an off-white "lunar style" highlight)
  • Obsession (a light peach highlight with a subtle pink reflect)
  • Delight (a true rose gold highlight)
  • Pinch Me (a candyfloss pink blush)
  • Makay (a spiced mauve blush)
  • Gold Crush (a rusty gold highlight)

What I especially love about this range is that there really is something to suit everyone in here, ranging from the fairest to deepest of people - nobody is left out with this warm and, quite frankly, GORGEOUS spectrum of hues. The ratio of blush to highlight shades is fairly accurate and the size of the pans and amount of product stored within them (6x6g) is very generous for the price of £17.99 (£15.99 if preordered) in comparison to the likes of the Ultimate Glow Kit by Anastasia Beverly Hills, costing a shocking £47 for 6 pans containing only 4.5g of product each - you're, without a shadow of a doubt, getting your money's worth here.

With regards to the formula of the shades within the palette, I've been bowled over by the sheer power behind each and every swipe of product, as all of the shades are rich and pigmented AF when applied, although the highlighters still remain on the buildable side, allowing you to decide whether or not you want just a subtle sparkle or a true glow capable of burning the eyes of anyone who dares to even take a quick glance (I normally go with the latter of the two options...).

The two blushes are both genuinely faultless and very similar formula wise (they're both velvety smooth, blendable and long-wearing), however, with the highlighters, 'Obsession' is slightly more powdery than the rest. This shouldn't be too much of an issue though, as a light spritz of setting spray (I like to use Mac's Prep and Prime Fix +, which I talk about A LOT, so you probably already knew that) takes 'Obsession' to the next level and allows it to instantly achieve the same buttery texture as the other three highlight shades - problem SOLVED. Overall, despite that minor hiccup, you've got to be impressed with the formula of these given the price point; they deliver an effortless shine to the skin (sans chunky glitter - thank GOD) and once they're on, you won't lose that glow for the entire day, so there's no worry about having to reapply at all.

In conclusion, Labelle Makeup have yet again formulated and produced a palette that's not only stunning, but also something of an example for the remainder of the modern day beauty industry that still insists on producing the same non inclusive, expensive garbage. Therefore, I totally recommend, if you have a spare £15.99, catching the preorder of this palette, as it's totally worth it and won't let you down if you're looking for a versatile (they can also be used as shadows on the lid or inner corner for that extra pop of highlight) and reasonably priced item to add to your makeup collection. This product officially launches on the 28th of April, so if you do manage to miss the preorder, don't hesitate to pick it up then (for an additional £2.00) - the "So Cheek" Highlighter and Blush Palette is a great product to experiment with. I, personally, know I'll be continuing to play with it when creating looks in the near future, and so should you be.

Thank you so much for reading my comeback post! I'm so excited to be reunited with my passion for writing on my blog and interacting with you guys - I've truly missed that.

What do you think of the "So Cheek" Highlighter and Blush Palette? Would you consider picking it up this month?
