Why You Should Consider a Short-Term Rental

If a goal of yours is to travel and reside internationally for several months at a time, you may think about where you’ll stay during those periods. Hotel rooms and Airbnbs can rack up extortionate fees over time and buying a house or apartment for that length of time is no option either, especially if you don’t plan on staying somewhere beyond a few months.

That’s where renting an apartment short-term could come into the equation as a good option. There are so many benefits that come from staying in a rental place! Here are just some of them:

Flexibility
The best thing ever about renting an apartment for your longer term stay overseas, is that you get to be flexible. You get the freedom to live in and try different places around your city.

If the place you live in is no longer fit for purpose, you get to just move on. Whereas if you bought a house, there is a whole lot more that will need to be done in order to sell it and move to your next place.

Short-term renting is such a great option for those who want to see more of the world for a longer period than a vacation, without the added commitment of a mortgage or extended lease.

You get to see a wider variety of places
If you have a job that requires a lot of travel, then short-term rentals help to give you a home base to chill out in during your evenings and weekends.

Likewise, when the world begins to open up again, you can use it as an excuse to travel the world while working your remote job. This is a great way for you to be able to see more while still earning money and not having to settle in one place for too long.

It makes it easier to budget
When you rent short-term it’s unlikely that you’ll have all of the other additional charges associated with renting or running a house. For example, your rent could cost $1,000 per month, but that’s without state taxes, utilities, streaming etc. However, with a short-term rental, you get to enjoy hot water, heat and air, and the internet for the entire cost of your stay.

It’s also less likely that you have to pay for decorating and any maintenance. Did one of your lights blow out, or a door not shut properly? Get your landlord or property maintenance agency on that straight away- something else you won’t have to budget for as you are not responsible for either the cost or labour of any repairs!

Short-term rentals are less stressful financially over time, particularly if you’re having to budget for travel. Travel is liberating, but having to constantly find new places to stay can be incredibly stressful. Short-term renting will take some of the stress of having to budget for incidentals out of the equation.
